The
Columbus Community Playgroup Co-operative, Inc. (CCPC) was founded in
1987 as a non-profit, licensed pre-school for children ages 2&1/2
to 5 years. CCPC has two morning classes for 2&1/2 to 5 year olds
and one afternoon class for 3 to 5 year olds. In addition, the facility
is available on Friday mornings during the school year for a community
drop-in playgroup.
CCPC
and its teachers seek to provide a dynamic curriculum based on music,
art, free play, physical activity and reading to provide its students
with a well rounded educational and social experience. Classroom
activities are designed to enhance children's language skills, develop
a sense of independence and encourage advancement of both fine and
gross motor skills.
The
school itself is located in the historic Town Hall of the Village of
Columbus (just north of Oshawa). The building boasts several brightly
decorated rooms with exceptional natural light in both the main
classroom and gym facilities.
